Non sospirar, pastor, non lagrimare: Queste lagrime amare che spargi da' tuoi lumi non spegneran scintilla dell’ardore, ove ognor ti consumi: Ché s’amor dalle fiamme del tuo core può trarre umor e venti, trarrà dal pianto ancor faville ardenti. |
Do not sigh, shepherd, do not weep: these bitter tears that you shed from your eyes do not douse the blaze of passion, wherein every moment you waste away: For if love, from the flames of your heart, can draw moisture and winds, it will also draw burning sparks from your tears. |
