Original ItalianTranslation
Itene all’ombra degli ameni faggi,
pasciute pecorelle, omai che’l sole
sul mezzo giorno indrizza i caldi raggi.
Ivi udirete l’alte mie parole
lodar gli occhi sereni e treccie bionde
le mani e le bellezze al mondo sole;
Mentre il mio canto e’l mormorar dell’onde
s’accorderanno e voi di passo in passo
ite pascendo fiori, erbette e fronde.
Go under the shade of the pleasing beeches,
O well-grazed sheet, now that the sun
in mid-day sends its hot rays.
There you will hear my lofty words
laud her serene eyes and blond tresses,
her hands and beauties, unique to the world;
while my song and the murmering of the waves
join in harmony, and you step by step
go grazing on flowers, grasses and leaves.
