Qual vive Salamandra in fiamma ardente
E ne gioisce poi,
Così il mio core in voi
Che la suo fiamma sete assai lucente,
Ardendo ha vita e duol alcun non sente.
O che felice sorte,
Viver in fiamma e non aver la morte.
As the salamander lives in burning flame
and rejoices therein,
So does my heart in you,
whose flame is very bright:
burning [that] has light and yet feels no pain.
Oh what a happy fate
to live in flame and not experience death.
