Se la mia fiamma ardente
Fosse il maggior tormento
Che per voi vita mia nel petto sento,
Io morirei beato,
Ardendo in questo stato;
Ma il vostro gelo รจ la maggior mia pena
Ch'a dolorosa morte ogni or mi mena.
 If my ardent flame
were my worst torment,
the one that I feel in my breast for you,
I would die blessed,
burning in this condition;
But your frigidness is my worst pain
that constantly leads me to a sorrowful death.
