No noise of drums, no sound of trumpets heralded the amorous assault; but kisses like the billing of doves gave the signal now to advance, now to stand firm. We used arms other than arrows or slings. I, without ladder, onto the battlements leapt and planted my pennant with one stroke, and drove my enemy (female) beneath me. |
